FERA partners in exclusive EFAD screening of “Loss of Balance” by Korek Bojanowski

Twice a year, under the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU, the European Film Agency Directors (EFAD) organises a special screening “Rendez-vous with European Cinema” which celebrates the richness and diversity of European film sector.
As the Polish Presidency draws to a close, EFAD – in partnership with the Polish Film Institute – presented Loss of Balance, directed by Korek Bojanowski, on 24 June at Cinéma Galeries in Brussels.
The event was supported by FERA alongside the European Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (ECCD), the European Audiovisual Production association (CEPI), Cineuropa, European Producers Club (EPC), Europa Cinemas, Europa Distribution, Europa International and the Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA).
Loss of Balance tells the story of Maja, a young drama student struggling with self-doubt and on the verge of giving up acting, who meets the director of her graduation play. Drawing directly from the lived experiences of its cast, the film explores the pressures and toxicity often present in acting school environments. With its modest budget of 250,000€ – 90% of which was financed by the Polish Film Institute – the film stands as a strong source of inspiration for emerging filmmakers.
The screening was introduced by Christian Bräuer (President of CICAE), Chris Marcich (Chair of EFAD), and Katarzyna Biniaszczyk (Head of Office of MEP Bogdan Zdrojewski), and followed by a Q&A session with the director, two lead actors and producers moderated by EFAD Secretary General Sevara Irgacheva.
